I have yet to see the merch in person but I think what the girls are wearing for the soiree is so much more interesting than what NM is offering up online. Boring and safe...I can only hope that they have a more exciting assortment on the floor. I did like the navy bow tunic, top left, $295.

Who knew that my new favorite face cream Chanel's Energizing Multi-Protection Concentrate (part of the new Radiance group) and Red Bull (my LEAST favorite energy drink) have something in common? Both boast Taurine as the fatique-fighting ingredient that promotes youth and increases energy.

Chanel promises the amino acid will help boost skin's vitality and claims their Radiance collection will prevent "the signs of fatigue and the appearance of those first lines". Cost: $85 for 1 ounce and available online or in finer department stores.

Red Bull claims Taurine acts an "antioxidant that promotes detoxification by hinding together with harmful substances and thereby accelerating their excretion from the body". Cost: $39.99 for a case of 24 and widely available from bars (served with vodka, of course) to delis to drugstores.

Despite its presence in energy drinks, Taurine officially hasn't been shown to produce energy but, rather, has been proven to reduce muscle fatique. As a card-carrying member of the beauty junkie club, it's no surprise I get a buzz when I get free Chanel skincare samples at the Barneys counter (thank you, Rene!), thus, I think I'll stick with the face cream when it comes to fighting my fatigue.

I've always stayed away from liquid liners because I just don't have the patience or steady hand required to acheive the perfect, thin line; however, on a recent business trip, I came close to stealing my colleague's Chanel liquid eyeliner. Good stuff: my ribbon and chain link necklaces (a steal, mind you at $31!) were just featured in Teen Vogue for their prom special (see bottom right hand corner of page). While I'm well beyond the prom years, I do like to wear mine with a simple-yet-sexy tank top and jeans. It's a great way to add oomph to a super casual look -- the metallic chain gives off a touch of glam and the organza ribbons offer a hint of sweetness.

Without a doubt, my pick for top gown goes to Jessica Biel's Oscar de la Renta number. A tasteful pop of color that looked absolutely fresh while event-appropriate. Not sure what to say about Gwyneth's and Nicole's matching hair styles (although I'm sure we'll no doubt see side parts and straight locks all over the place come Spring). While I love a structured dress with an architectural element, Cameron's dress did not bring sexy back, in my opinion. And, finally, kudos to Helen Mirren for a true classic. Her Christian Lacroix ensemble was divine.

Look What I Found: Perfect Makeup Primer

I love beauty discoveries that make my life just that much easier...and this one came to me in the form of a gift from a dear friend of mine. I tend to treat myself to major jewelry pieces as well as shoes and bags. (No surprise there!) My biggest recent splurge, Janna Conner's gold Freya necklace -- a total splurge-worthy item if I ever saw one -- has actually turned out to be an item I wear at least once a week. Aside from the fact that it is simply gorgeous and metallic is an essential Fall trend, it can be adjusted to be worn as a choker which works with Ts and denim or it goes the distance for a longer v-neck sweater and works well with other gold chains. Pay It Forward: A Tale of 8 Lip Glosses

I consider myself a savvy traveler... I fly enough to know the secret to stepping off the plane looking like a million bucks is all in what you pack in your carry-on bag (see earlier post about the world's greatest black tote) and I usually know the FAA's latest rulings on whether or not I can bring my cuticle cutters and eye lash curler on board. Last week I had to take a day trip and completely forgot that lip gloss is now a no-no. Somehow or another, all 8 of my glosses made it through the first security check (big surprise, right?!?) but on my return flight I was asked to step aside as they ripped through my bag withdrawing the dangerous gloss.

To know me is to appreciate that in my line of work it is necessary to own a billion shades of lip gloss (all the better to determine which colors are best for my customers, of course!) and that I need to have as many color options at my disposal as possible. Given the choice to dump the glosses in the trash amidst the other offending liquid beauty items or mail them to myself, I didn't hesitate to seek out a mail drop in the airport. Unfortunately, I do not carry stamps on my person at all times and had to then go find a stamp machine...which of course was temporarily out of service. After a few stressful moments I realized if I didn't find a solution I'd miss my flight all over some lip gloss. A giant Thank You to Edith, an information desk worker in the St. Louis airport, who sympathized with my plight and offered to mail my stash home. She wouldn't accept money for the postage she would have to put on the envelope, she just smiled and said she understood. While not a crisis or matter of life and death, those glosses are headed home thanks to the kindness of a fellow maiden. I love people who ask for nothing in return and I hope to pay the random act of kindness forward in some manner or another.

You Glow Girl: My Favorite New Cleanser

Good news for those of us too pressed for time to exfoliate, cleanse, tone and massage everyday. I used the Neutrogena Pure Glow daily cleansing cushion sample in this month's Allure magazine and found my new fave morning facial cleansing product. It's a soft cushiony disc with a "pocket" for your fingers -- just run under water and gently wash your face. The beaded side is for deep cleaning, the striped side provides a dose of moisture. Follow it with a quick rinse and I guarantee you, too, will swear you just had a mini-facial.

It's not really gold and it's not really bronze but it is, in my opinion, medal-worthy and deserving of the highest award for its stand alone chic-factor. No need to blend with other shades or coordinate a palette, just swipe the single shade on and, voila, instant wow.

Chanel's Ombre Unique Creme Illuminating Eye Shadow in Riviera is my newest "can't leave home without" makeup item. It's a sheer cream shadow (not gloppy like so many others) that leaves a subtle highlight. I can't help but love how it brings out the gold flecks in my eyes, too!

I, like most women I know, tend to overpack even for the shortest of vacations. For some reason this past holiday weekend, I had everything I needed in my beauty bag except I totally forgot to pack facial cleanser (a necessity after slathering on the sunblock all day long). A quick run to the drugstore proved to be an enlightening experience. With no fancy brand names in sight, I was forced to select something in the $10 and under range, something I generally do not do when it comes to skin care. If I'm putting La Mer on my skin at night, I'm typically washing off the daily grime with something equally high-end.

No more, now that I finally discovered what all of the magazines have been touting as the best gentle skin cleanser on the market for years. (I tend to ignore most of their reader polls seeing how the advertisers' names are abundantly present in every category.)

My new favorite, which rang in at a brilliant $8.99: Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser. Lightly fragranced, super gentle, completely effective -- it's a new must-have in my book.

A super sweet friend of mine bestowed the perfect gift upon me this week. Two new candles from White Barn New York found their way into my possession in the delightful scents of Fresh Linen and Terry Robe. Jet-setting this weekend? Headed to the Hamptons? My low-key plans involve relaxed-chic style and minimal luggage. I'm planning on lots of cocktails on the deck, grilling on the bbq and a possible dinner in town. I'm relying more on accessories and makeup to change my look throughout the course of the weekend. My travel bag (believe it or not, I'm still using my 9 year old black nylon Prada super tote) will be filled with 4 fitted polos, 2 Bermuda shorts, one pair of jeans, 2 woven leather belts and, of course, my clear jellies and gold wedges. Add a pair of flip flops and a just-in-case sweater for good measure and I've got every outing covered.

As for jewelry, I'm snagging one of my new leather cord necklaces (perfect for poolside cocktails as well as brunch with the family the next day), three pairs of earrings and tons of gold chains, like my super mother of pearl shell pendant.

If you've been following along, you know I'm obsessed with every color available in Chanel's Glossimer lip gloss collection so I have plenty of variety at my disposal. Add a subtle tan courtesy of Jergen's Natural Glow, expertly-applied black Lancome Definicils mascara, the tiniest swipe of Nars Copacabana shimmer on my nose and cheekbones and I'm set.

There are tons of jeweled options out there, but I had my eye on something that could go with a variety of casual looks for both day and evening. I had seen several pairs of silver leather sandals in the market, from the pages of Glamour to the JCrew catalog so I knew there would be tons in the stores. After trying on about 6 pairs (from $24.99 to $165) throughout the day, I decided on this pair from Steve Madden for a cool $59 at Macy's. I think I own just about every single Chanel Glossimer color ever produced, so when the new colors come out each season, you know I'm at the counter with anticipation. For Summer 2006, my new fave is Pink Oyster. It looks like a hot pink/sugary-sweet cotton candy concoction with glitter, mind you, but it is actually more subtle on than in the tube. I've been wearing it since last Thursday on its own and over lip liner -- LOVE IT. A must-have for the lip gloss-addicted like myself or if you want an excuse to buy a something new without breaking the bank.

Road Tested: Gap T-Strap Jelly Sandals

Ick - just the thought of "jellies" brings me back to 8th grade but I have to admit, these are fabulous! After a day of hobbling around in new shoes with straps that cut into my ankles, I had to run into the Gap for a remedy. The selection of flip flops wasn't all that exciting, but the array of jellies caught my eye. It's a t-strap sandal with ankle strap in bright orange, cherry, lime, grape, etc. I opted for clear (which gives the illusion of not wearing any shoes at all) and $16.50 later my feet were in heaven. While not necessarily the best city walking shoe (I felt a little too close to the ground in some cases) the pebbled bottom makes these great for driving and soothing tired feet. P.S. The Gap web site has many more options available online than in the stores right now.

To Do: Recreate the skills of a makeup artist in half the time

If you are looking for a sensational makeup artist for a special occasion or night out on the town, Patrick from Bergdorf's Nars counter is your man. Unfortunately, I am just not as crafty as he when it comes to recreating the look he gave me last Saturday. It was lovely to sit for an hour while he skillfully applied the new spring colors to my eyes. Recreating the look at home has not proven so successful. (To be honest, the Night Bird eyeshadow makes me look like I gave myself a black eye!). I just do not have that much time to devote to perfect makeup application. My next appointment with Patrick will be focused on "How to do my morning makeup routine in 10 minutes or less". On a side note, my new blush in "Madly" is lovely and it just could be the one thing I never knew I needed.

Who knew the Nars skin care collection (which is actually manufactured by Shiseido) would be so deluxe? I previously only shopped the counter for color (more on my new eye shadows tomorrow!) but am now in love with the moisturizers and eye cream! I picked up three new products, all fabulous but there was one in particular, the Aqua Gel Hydrator which blew me away. It is one of the lightest products I've ever used on my skin yet it delivers a day's worth of moisture. Massaging it into my face felt like a mini-facial and the hydrating factor is phenomenal. Truly -- after a full day of shopping and galavanting in the city, my friend Jen remarked how amazing and fresh my skin still looked by the time we stopped for afternoon cocktails. I think her exact description was "glowing". Any product that can revitalize my skin and deliver a full day of dewy-but-not-greasy glow power is worth the $76 I shelled out.

I saw a picture of Marc Jacobs new perfume, Rain, in this month's Bazaar but haven't seen it in the stores yet and am dying to know if anyone has tried it yet. Please share details because it sounds like it would smell perfect as a daytime fragrance (notes of tropical rain, cut grass, white orchid, etc.)!
